8/12/06 - New Videos, East Coast Tour, 50,000+ Myspace plays, Sponsorships, and More!

We recently hit 50,000+ plays on Myspace and posted 5 videos from our show at the Trocadero in our Videos section. Our brand new press kit video is in the Media section on this website also...Go check them out!

Our fans and listeners mean so much to us, and we appreciate each and every one of you.  Thanks for coming to shows, listening to us online, responding to our bulletins, leaving us comments/messages, helping us promote, and getting us shows in your town!

Everything is going so great with the band right now and we couldn't be any happier.  The new demo is getting great reviews, shows are plentiful, and we're playing in new areas for new fans.  We were selected out of 600+ bands to perform at this year's Dewey Beach Music Conference, (which is the 2nd largest music conference in the USA) and Jaxon from WMMR is going to put us on the "Local Shots Vol. 3" CD in 2007.  We're also talking with Rockstar Energy Drink about a possible sponsorship.

Thanks again for your continued support...we couldn't have made it this far without you guys! =)

2/2/06// CHECK OUT RECENT PRESS ON D.O.G.!

From the February 2006 edition of Origivation Magazine...a review of our TLA show on 12/23!

"...South Jersey-based Disciples of Groove took the stage as Mike Pinto triumphantly finished. DOG pulled out all the stops, playing groovy, funky, rocking songs with extra vigor. As the songs got more and more amped up and frenzied, DOG surprised everyone by going into "Carol of the Bells," a Christmas classic and inviting a guitar-playing Santa Claus on the stage. Santa played in harmony with the Disciples of Groove, righteously soloing on "Carol of the Bells" and finishing by throwing candy and stickers to the eager audience. How does one follow an act like that?..."

The Disciples of Groove is one of the bands performing for the MySpace party at the Bridgewater Pub on Saturday.

"...You can expect some great original music and a lot of fun tied into one night,” says Genovese. “It’s a big thing; this isn’t your average ‘Go out and see a band’ night.”
The bands lined up for the evening are all featured on Myspace, and range from the rock sounds of Echo to Base and Life is Here to the stylistic rapping of Mister Dang Dang. Also performing will be local rock stars Disciples of Groove."

9.2.05//TLA Aftermath, Origivation Magazine, and Internet Radio

Thanks to everyone who came to see us at the TLA! We had a great turnout and a lot of fun playing on that killer stage. There are some pictures to check out from the show--you may view them by clicking this PHOTOBUCKET link. We should be playing the TLA again in November for the Songspot.org Fall Fest with a later time slot and a longer set, so we'll keep you updated.
Our performance as well as a few other bands who performed that night were spotlighted in an article in Origivation magazine. Check the full article out by clicking HERE.

Here's a snip-it: "... Disciples of Groove- a fun, jammy-type band that wasted no time kicking things into full gear with an incredible rendition of The Simpsons theme song. The band was tight, very technical and did (no) holding back."

Also, we are now on an internet radio station called EarAcheFM. You can request any one (or all) of our 7 songs from the EP by simply clicking the link below, clicking the requests link on the left hand side of the page, and then typing "Disciples of Groove" into the search field. The songs will play immediately and every time you request a tune you'll help us climb the charts.

That's all for now, hope everyone is doing well!Dan

6.28.05//Grape Street Success and 3 Weeks Off

Big thanks to everyone who came to support us at the Grape Street Pub for our final big show in Philly until August. We did great at the door, played a killer set, and met an awesome band from NYC, the Josh Dion Band.
Check them out!

We won't have any shows for the next few weeks because Matt went on a family vacation, so in the meantime we'll work on getting some new tunes wrapped up, finish booking July and August shows, and getting the EP pressed and ready for sale. We have a lot of all ages shows in the works for this Summer with some kick ass bands that most of our fans have never been exposed to, so check back often to see what's new or join our email list to get our newsletter. Don't forget to join our Street Team if you'd like to learn more about helping us out and getting free goodies.

Thanks everyone and keep enjoying your Summer,Dan

6.01.05//Summer Progress and Calling all Street Team Members...

Summer's here and the tour is looking good. June and July are booked pretty solid (some dates are not on the site yet because we're waiting for confirmation). We should hit at least 6 different states and we hope to make a lot of new fans and friends. Our EP is mastered and the art work is finished, so the complete package will be arriving shortly. FINALLY! We'll have a CD release party and get all the merch for sale online and at the shows (of course).

We definitely have to get the Street Team up and running again so more locals in the distant cities come out to shows because of all the buzz they hear. If you're not on the Street Team, you can sign up by clicking the Street Team link at the lower right hand corner of this page. If you are a Street Team member and have any ideas, suggestions, or questions please don't hesitate to send an e-mail to DOGStreetTeam@comcast.net. We want to hear from you! Street Team events, offers, and planned promotion nights will be scheduled on a regular basis and members will be notified via email. If you're interested in helping us get our name out there more effectively, then we're interested in hooking you up with merch, tickets, a free concert at your house, free lessons, one of Rob's 10 basses...well, you get the point.

We're focusing more on playing local all ages shows because quite frankly, they're the most fun and garner the most fans. Instead of trying to build a fanbase from a large city such as Philadelphia, we're going to focus on smaller city all ages shows to build up fanbases, play for bigger crowds, and get those fans from smaller cities to come to big city shows. We're going to try and bring some of the best bands we've played with and met over the years to South Jersey this Summer for some killer all ages shows at the venues you love to hate...and even some new venues that are going to start having shows...stay tuned for details.

Hope to see some new faces at our upcoming shows!

DanP.S. This month's TLA show has been postponed twice and was pushed to August. The Wallflowers took the June 11th date and Ja Rule has taken June 25th. The new tentative date is August 6th.

4.25.05//Summer Tour + Media Page Updated

Out of state fans, listen up! Summer is approaching and we are working hard on our first tour! We are currently booking shows in NJ, PA, DE, RI, CT, MA, ME, NH, VT and MD. If you live in one of those states and would like to see us play your hometown, then please visit our Contact section and let us know! We'd like to do show trades with any band from those areas, so any interested bands should contact us and we'll set something up.

Our media page has also been updated with a Photo Archive and a Videos Section. From now on, photos, video, or both will be shot at each show and posted on our site within 24 hours, so check back often to see what's new!

We'd also like to give thanks to our first clothing sponsor, Abbonizio Freak Clothing. Check out their website to see their work and check our videos/ pics to see us rockin' their gear. We're looking to get some more sponsorships in the near future and hope to broaden our connections as we tour the East Coast this Summer. Any interested companies should visit our Contacts page and send us an email!

We're very excited about our show at the TLA in June! Tickets will be on sale soon through Ticketmaster and we'll be sure to let you know when they are. We're also working on new material to debut soon and the EP has been finally mastered and ready to print (just need some artwork and we're all ready to go.) Once the EP is finished, we'll open up an online store with all of our merch.

*Update* Due to poor ticket sales and a lack of overall support, the Y100 Fez has been cancelled...*
I recently got in touch with the DJ's of Y100 and sent in our application to play at the Fez on May 15th, so hopefully we get the spot. If not, I'll be there helping them out and meeting new people, and I hope to see some of you there! Check out Y100Rocks.com for more info.

That's all the updates for now...check back to see where we're playing next!

Dan

3.4.05 // Upcoming Philly Shows + Save Y100 Rally

Hey everyone,

The World Cafe Live shows went great! On the 11th we played upstairs for a sold out crowd and in addition to all of our originals, got to perform a Gabe Dixon Band song for their drummer who came upstairs to check us out.
The show on the 17th was on the main stage and was an incredible experience. The stage and sound were top notch, we had our own hooked up backstage pad, and the guys from RANA were really cool.
Aside from the intro picture, more pictures from the gigs will be posted on our site soon, so we'll let you know when it's all set up for your viewing pleasure. Thanks again to everyone who came out to our shows in February--we had a lot of big gigs back to back and you guys represented and helped us out tremendously.

We have some great Philly shows coming up in March, so head over to the shows page for more info on them.
At each show we'll be spreading the word about how you can help Y100 get back on the air by distributing fliers, CD inserts, and dedicating our new song, "Like The Way" to them!

*ALSO*

There will be a "Save Y100" rally on Saturday, March 5th at 3pm on the Art Museum steps. This rally is rain or shine and the former Y100 DJ's will all be there.

Go to the rally to show your support and visit Y100Rocks.com to sign the petition, email the former DJ's, or listen to broadcasts!

Accomplishments so far by the Y100Rocks.com website has been over 45,000 online signatures on the “Save Y100” petition, 30,000 hours of listening logged, the attention of the local and national media, including Rolling Stone Magazine, TV news coverage on Fox 29, CN8 and NBC 10, and print coverage in Inquirer, Radio & Records, FMQB, and local papers.

1.21.05 // Big News Update along with New Website!

New merch is here!
Disciples of Groove hoodies and EP's are now available for sale along with our T-Shirts and stickers at every show from now on!

All merch will soon be available for purchase through our website and our 7 song EP will be sold across the US and Europe on additional websites and stores.

With some main goals being a college tour in the Spring, a Summer tri state tour, new merch designs, making fans worldwide, writing many new songs, and maybe even landing some sponsorships, we're planning on 2005 being a huge year for us!

G. Love and Special Sauce's Philadelphonic management has showed some interest in our band and we're hoping for the best and are excited to see what happens next!

In other exciting news, our song "Too Steep to Step" will be featured as the main theme on a skateboarding DVD/VHS independent movie filmed by TransferSkakeboards. There will be 5,000 DVD copies and 1,000 VHS copies being sold throughout the US and Canada this November!

Stay tuned for updates and see you at the next show!
